about me

hello there!

the name's mykel, and welcome to my personal blog!

about myself

i am 22 years old and i consider myself just another person on the internet. i like programming in java but i also like typescript (and javascript, i guess...), php (mostly because of laravel honestly) and rust. i also have some knowledge with html, css, c# and python. the list will get longer, i can assure you that but it'll take a liiitle bit..

outside of programming, i like writing which is what pushed me to make a small blog like this. i don't often know what to write about but nevertheless, i like doing so. reading is also something i do but less often than writing; mostly because i'm busy with other things which doesn't allow me to read as often as i'd actually wish... or maybe i'm just too lazy to find time, both works really. i also play games! minecraft and roblox are the first on the list but i also enjoy fields of mystria, frostpunk, geometry dash, terraria, webfishing when it was still relevant, melatonin, class of '09 and a lot other visual novels. though, i don't really play games at the moment. mostly because of college but also because i don't really enjoy playing games recently, hope it'll fix itself soon!

outside of those, i am what people would call a "bus-lover"... or a transit enjoyer? whichever, i really like studying and learning about my local transit agencies, their stations, bus and train routes and all that. i have a personal website where i can navigate all the public gtfs and gtfs-rt data that they give out! i can't really tell you where this passion came from but i'm really enjoying it so i won't elaborate futher :D

music taste

i'll be the first one to admit that my music taste is not exactly coherent or logical but i like to think i listen to everything except for country, jazz and classical music. those just bore me to a point. but i do enjoy a lot of genre, not limited to: shoegaze and post-shoegaze, post-rock, post-metal, hyperpop, metal, extreme metal, heavy and black metal, hip-hop, drill, rap, ambient, noise rock and who knows what people call their genres nowadays.

some of my favorite records includes;

BandcampLes Voyages De L'Âme, by Alcest8 track album

"Les Voyages De L'Âme" by Alcest is to me how a perfect album should look and sound like. The mix between the clean and distorted guitar is amazing and means more than what it seem at the surface.

BandcampSEARCH ENGINE, by FREE.992 track album

FREE99, already being a small duo, made me fall in love with their sound with their song "SUICIDE OCEAN". i am a little sad that the way i discovered them was because of geometry dash but i am glad to have gotten to actually check them out, unlike most that i do not even bother to. i am also one of the lucky ones that got an "OUT FOR BLOOD" vinyl when they announced it... i am so grateful i had email notifications enabled that day...

Bandcampwitch, hunt, by AIV6 track album

sometime after i discovered FREE99, i've started to see people recommend AIV. i really wasn't sure i'd like it but something told me to check her out... and i am so glad i did. i remember i had to postpone my listen of her release "which, hunt" because it was late and her sound was so loud i couldn't really handle it at first. but morning came and i went back and enjoyed all 6 tracks.

BandcampTarot, by Aether Realm13 track album

nothing to say here. good ass death metal and that's really it. i recommend them to everyone, even if you do not listen to death metal, maybe this'll change your mind on that! they have a new album coming out in december called "Season of Bloodshed".

even so, this is only a very brief overview on what i listen to on a daily basis, in reality, there's more indie or local artists such as refuse or hell, even myself...

that's it folks,

i don't really have much to write on this day, so i'll leave it at this. thanks for reading all this if you did, cya,
